This duel bay is very well built, and is a quality bit of kit so why three stars and not five, well I can not get the X2-U3 to recognise Hitachi drives.I loaded two drives into it, it accessed one with no problem, would not access the other, took the drives out and swapped them round still only accessed the same drive? Took one drive out (the Hitachi) and fitted another one is, accessed them both. Fitted the Hitachi into another single housing I had as a spare from PC world and that worked perfect. So it appears the this bit of kit, good as it looks does not like Hitachi drives.

If anyone else has uncounted this problem I would like to know if the fault can be correctedMany thanks for reading.Anthony B. Had two 1Tb Drives from a desktop I sold.Needed access to them and thought I'd take a risk for the low price, having never used HornetTek hardware before.Build quality was surprisingly good and took just 10 minutes to get up and running with my laptop.Connected via USB 3 port and speed is great so now backup all my stuff onto them very quickly. No need to leave it running overnight.Box is quiet even with fan running although fan can be disabled, but there's no need.Just a heads up though, don't press anything on the front of the device thinking its the On button like I did. The Hornettek X2-U2 is great value and as my new PC has USB 3, it is really quick though USB 2 connectors work perfectly well with it. I had two spare 500gb 3.5' disks from my old PC so this seemed to be just the job.

Easy peasy to slot in both drives and switch on. Could then transfer all my data and videos quickly to my new PC. And having created a raid array 0 with both I now use both drives as a single drive backup. One slight criticism is that whilsy the on/off switch is on the back, a green power light on the front looks like a switch (which it isn't) therefore doesn't do anything other than light up despite there being other lights on the front - one for each drive.
