This document will instruct you on how to increase the number of men per unit in Empire Total War. This same process also works for Napoleon Total War and Shogun Total War two.

By increasing the amount of men in a unit you are making the game more realistic, as actual Napoleonic battles consisted of anywhere from a few thousand men to hundreds of thousands. Directing battles will now be funner and require more strategy.

There will now be more action and battles will last longer. Also real generals of this time also controlled large amounts of trops.

The Original Empire Total War allows a maximum of twenty units per army to take place on the battlefield at one time. Each of the twenty units has anywhere from forty to two hundred soldiers. If you follow these simple instructions you can have as many men in a unit as you want or that you’re computer can handle as increasing the amount of men on the better field affects performance a great deal.I won’t take full credit for this mod as it has already been done a million times for other mods. However no one has a stand-alone increased unit size mod that I like and that works with AUM and other mods. I learned how to do this from reading a post by Ascorius on Total war.com so some credit must go to him. However, I have spent some of my own time posting this for everyone to benefit from.!!!IMPORTANT!!!STEP ONETo begin, you’ll need to locate your Empire Total war preferances.empirescript which contain the values that must be edited to increase unit sizes. In order to find your preferences.empirescript you will have to disable hidden folders on your computer which is easy.

If you have already disabled hidden folders obviously skip this part.(How to Disable Hidden Files)Files andin Windows can be hidden from view Windows Explorer and directory listing for protection against accidental deletion, privacy or simple make the hidden items harder to find. It’s pretty easy to reveal and show and and folders in Windows system with the following steps:Click on the windows start button located in the lower left hand corner of your screen by default.Your cursor will apear in the search box with the text that reads; Search programs and files.

Type folder options, hit enter.A folder titled Folder options should apear in the search results above the search box you just typed in. Click on it.The folder optionos window should then open looking like the image below. As in the image below uncheck don’t show hidden files, folders, or drives and check show hidden files, folders and drives. Hit the apply button in the bottom right corner of the folder options window. Then hit ok and close the window.(These are paraphrased instructions from this tutorial on the topic;)!!!HERE WE GO!!!STEP TWOINSTRUCTIONS: HOW TO INCREASE UNIT SIZES SIMPLY AFTER DISABLING HIDDEN FOLDERS ON YOUR PC.1. Find your preferences.empirescript file, it is located here C:Documents and SettingsUserApplication DataThe Creative AssemblyEmpirescripts.2. Once you have found your preferences.empirescript file, open it and find the line of text that reads campaignunitmultiplier 1.3.

Empire

Once you have found the line of text that says campaignunitmultiplier 1 within the preferences.empirescript change the number 1 after the word multiplier to a larger number, this will multiply your current unit size by that number.I find changing the number to 1.25 is the best, it increases the amount of men on the battle field making it more realistic without decreasing your frames per second too much. Increasing the number higher than 1.25 may cause your game to run slow although it depends on your specific hardware. Cavalry 75, artillery 30, grenadier 100, generals 40, line infantry 200-250 depending on faction.

Although you can play around with this number if you want, larger number= more men per unit.If you enjoyed making your own first mod, or even if you hated it but still enjoy the new unit sizes, please REP me or Ascorius from totalwar.com.
